The Challenge:
My clients already had a smaller beach house in this community, but wanted to have more space to fit all their friends and family visiting during the summer season. So when this home came on the market, they snapped it up quickly hoping to capitalize on its potential to be their dream house. Their first step was to bring in an architect who would determine where the house could be bumped out and up to make room for more bedrooms and bathrooms, and to show how those rooms could be configured. Once that step was completed, I came on board to finesse the layout of all the interior spaces to ensure that it functioned according to the owners’ wishes. The first thing I did was move the kitchen from the back of the house to the center, bringing it closer to the great room and the view of the beach. With this design change, the kitchen became the focal point of the main level and the decoration of the rest of the home flowed out of it.

The entire structure was gutted down to studs and plywood floors and rebuilt. Thanks to some careful listening to what my clients wanted and some out-of-the-box thinking, my clients got the beach house of their dreams with 5 bedrooms plus a guest loft and 5 full bathrooms on three beautiful levels of living space. Enjoy the photos!
