In 2015, Glen Meadows Retirement Community became one of my design clients. My projects included creating new floor plans for each unit as they were relinquished, with recommendations for floor plan redesigns put forth. I also created furniture layouts for the incoming residents based on what they wanted to bring to their new home. Other community needs were larger apartments, so I designed new units by combining two smaller ones to meet this demand. Additionally, I worked with the Executive Director to renovate and redecorate many of the common spaces around campus.
In 2022, I joined Glen Meadows full-time handling design selections for all incoming residents, seeing their units through renovation and getting them moved in. During my time in this position, I worked hard to make changes to how we prepared units newly relinquished to be “show ready” as well as pushing one unit at a time to full completion. This proved to be advantageous as it allowed us to showcase a unit in its best light, with minimal capital outlay, and make some units available for those incoming residents that were in a hurry to move in.
In 2023, sales responsibilities were added to my role. Together, along with my colleague and a new approach to product development, we took census from 79% to 96% in 24 months. Corporate was “Wowed!” What this experience taught us is the importance that design and presentation of the product hold to the success of achieving census goals.
If your community could use a boost, I would be happy to meet with you to discuss how we might work together to get your census numbers up as well.
